Frosted Flower Cardigan from Downeast Basics.. Fall and Winter Must Have

I saw this and it was a Must Have as soon as I laid eyes on it..
This is a new cardigan from Downeast Basics.
It comes in 2 colors, Glacier Gray (shown) and Graphite Blue (which I ordered).
They are $34.99 and I have a feeling they will sell out super quick!!
I would have gotten both, but couldn't justify 70 bucks for two sweaters, being the cheap o that I am...

Fashonista Tomboy

I may talk about shoes and clothing alot, but another thing I love is sports! My favorite team always changes to which teams my kids are on. I love fashion and to dress up , but also I love to dress down and be that mom who isn't afraid to throw the football or baseball and even shoot hoops. I am a tomboy and will always be one.

A Tomboy that loves makeup, hair product, dresses and heels..

But Will NOt Wear Mom Jeans!! You may notice the Downeast Basics tee staple, my 3 Girls Running Jeans and my Tevas. As always Boise State Orange Sweatshirt (chilly that morning) on backwards.

Such and Oxymoron I am.

(In case you are wondering the oldest son to my left is 13 and the one to my right is 12. As a reference point I am 5'10". One day you too will face the fact that your kids will be bigger, taller and stronger than you.. I have faced it, but haven't embraced it yet...)

12 years ago.. Sigh....However those jeans do scare me.. LOL

Tuxedo Shirt and Poppy Skirt

I rummaged in my tiny little closet (nightmare for me) and found The White Tuxedo shirt was a purchase from Downeast Basics as well as the skirt, a while back. I do know the skirt is no longer available. The orange tee is from Coverwear. The eyelet slip extender from Vintage Hem and the heels well they are from DSW.. You know how I love the heels. Good thing I have that tall hubby. With my heels I am 6'1. No Shrinking Violet..

(you probably figured that since I post my rear end for all to see)
What do you have already existing in your closet? Go find some pieces and figure out a new way to wear it..Go and look and try different colors and textures together. Make your own style and be unique.

If we were all the same things would be mundane.

Skirt from DownEast BAsics

I just love this skirt, it is so light and doesn't make me so hot down here in the humid South. I have to add a vintagehem under it because I have such long legs. I have had the best compliments about it.

This is a such a cute combo!

The Cocktail Party Goes On!

<

The day the tornado came ripping through the area, we had a cocktail dress auction to attend. What made me fret more?? The stinkin auction, where my hubby and I would hob nob and rub elbows with some of the most influencial citizens of North Georgia. I knew we would be the couple with the least amount of $$$$ in the bank, but I knew that me the guru of deals could dress the part, for little money! I got to the auction and was SHOCKED at the immodesty of the outfits or should I say bedroom wear at this function. Except for the little old ladies with old Southern money, who were dressed in beautiful Chanel suits and reeked of class and dignity. I was actually aproached by one and asked if I lived in the Country Club and that she was happy to see someone who was dressed appropriately. I take that as a complement. I try to be appropriate.

The outfit

Black sequined knee length skirt by INC found brand new with tags at Goodwill for $4.89
Black Basic tee from Downeast Basics for $9.99
White Cotton Shirt on clearance from CATO for $5.99
Black strappy heels for $19.99 at Rack Room Shoes
Total cost for a modest evening cocktail outfit: $40.86 plus tax

Everyday Wear

I am really fond of jean jackets. They cover a lot of flaws and are modest.. If you can find a feminine cut that fits your body, you are set.! This outfit was mostly from Steve and Barry's. I love this store. Right now everything is $8.98. Everything, even the down coats I bought for the kids..

This complete outfit: Guess Jean Jacket found it Goodwill $4.89(it IS okay to shop there, you are being frugal, plus you are also recycling clothes and helping the environment, it is a very GREEN thing to do!)

White sleevless cotton ruffle blouse $8.98 Steve and Barry's Sarah Jessica Parker Bitten Line

Short Sleeve wonder Tee from Downeast Basics in Cinnamon $9.99

Jeans $8.98 from Steve and Barry's (these run a size big) They have some spandex in them for a comfy fit.

Layering for Work

I used the brown and pink combo with layering tees. The brown lace long sleeved tee is from Downeast Basics and the pink short puckered tee was on clearance from Fashion Bug.. With layering you can wear a cute short, low cut shirt, you normally wouldn't or couldn't wear and I love that.. Now the brown scrub pants we aren't too interested in that.. ;)

Trying the Basic Tee Out

So many places now are offering Tees that are longer than the norm.. I have placed an order with several of the companies I have linked and am anxious to try them out. I do know I love the long sleeve lace tee from Down East Basics.. they go well under my work scrubs and are tagless. Also reasonably priced.. I know in the West there are several retail stores for just this type of fashion. Modest fashion.. Here in the Southeast, I have to order from the net and patiently wait.

I Must Set the Example
