Vintage Necklaces

Vintage Necklaces,
the kind our grandmothers wore back in the 1940's and 50's.
Since clothing can get expensive, a great way to change how an outfit looks and how you present yourself in it is by what type of accessories you wear.
Necklaces don't have to be matchy matchy.. (is that even a word ;) )
Pile a whole bunch on!
The more the merrier..
I found all three of these at Goodwill..
Great place to look for accessories like this..
Makes me wonder what ever happened to all of my grandma Bessies great necklaces, I used to play dress up with as a little girl..

In This Economic Crisis..Every Penny Counts

Those who follow my blog, know I like to find a deal.. Today's deal was at Goodwill, where I hunt down designer bags, brand new clothing and other various items.. I was bored and headed there today, just trying to find something "interesting".. Well I found it.. A new holiday skirt and new holiday cardigan sweater.. Not to wear together, because too much sequin can be a bad thing.. So 80's Knots Landing you know..

Skirt $3.69 plus Sweater $4.59= $8.28 plus tax.

How do you pinch your pennies, when it comes to clothing?

Here is My $25 outfit..

I found this outfit for twenty three dollars and some change. The blue silk shirt is from Banana Republic, the grey dress pants are Tracey Evans Limited, Shoes are Liz Claiborne, belt is real leather, the necklace is oblong beads and best of all the Kate Spade bag was only three dollars. It was all new to me and I didn't use a staple from my already large wardrobe.. It can be done. What were you able to find for $25...??

The Cocktail Party Goes On!

<

The day the tornado came ripping through the area, we had a cocktail dress auction to attend. What made me fret more?? The stinkin auction, where my hubby and I would hob nob and rub elbows with some of the most influencial citizens of North Georgia. I knew we would be the couple with the least amount of $$$$ in the bank, but I knew that me the guru of deals could dress the part, for little money! I got to the auction and was SHOCKED at the immodesty of the outfits or should I say bedroom wear at this function. Except for the little old ladies with old Southern money, who were dressed in beautiful Chanel suits and reeked of class and dignity. I was actually aproached by one and asked if I lived in the Country Club and that she was happy to see someone who was dressed appropriately. I take that as a complement. I try to be appropriate.

The outfit

Black sequined knee length skirt by INC found brand new with tags at Goodwill for $4.89
Black Basic tee from Downeast Basics for $9.99
White Cotton Shirt on clearance from CATO for $5.99
Black strappy heels for $19.99 at Rack Room Shoes
Total cost for a modest evening cocktail outfit: $40.86 plus tax

Everyday Wear

I am really fond of jean jackets. They cover a lot of flaws and are modest.. If you can find a feminine cut that fits your body, you are set.! This outfit was mostly from Steve and Barry's. I love this store. Right now everything is $8.98. Everything, even the down coats I bought for the kids..

This complete outfit: Guess Jean Jacket found it Goodwill $4.89(it IS okay to shop there, you are being frugal, plus you are also recycling clothes and helping the environment, it is a very GREEN thing to do!)

White sleevless cotton ruffle blouse $8.98 Steve and Barry's Sarah Jessica Parker Bitten Line

Short Sleeve wonder Tee from Downeast Basics in Cinnamon $9.99

Jeans $8.98 from Steve and Barry's (these run a size big) They have some spandex in them for a comfy fit.

Red and White Polka Dot Satin Flats Rack Room Shoes $19.99

I Must Set the Example
