Most Fabulous Scarf!

Somehow I was out of the loop and just found out about Etsy.com. I decided to browse scarves, really because I needed a new one that was just plain different from everyone elses.. Well I found mine!!! From That Funky Boutique

Twilight. It is a felted navy rose scarf, made from recycled sweaters.. So many people have stopped me and asked where I had got it or they have made complimentary remarks about it.. It cost 35 bucks, I know a little high for me, but so worth it.. I hate to be too cheap when someone handmakes something. That time and effort has to cost something..

She makes new ones daily and they seem to sell out pretty fast.. Right now there is a beautiful gray one that would match almost any winter coat...Enjoy looking at her beautifully unique scarves..

My Great Finds!

A one of a kind, handmade leather handbag! $2.60 Are you kidding me??
A brand spankin new pair of Levi's for $5..
A cute, eyelet skirt that would look great with a vintage hem slip extender underneath. $4.69

A pair of Miss Sixty's.. SWEET. These retail between 170 to 250 bucks.. I got them for five..
This proves you can be stylish even if you don't have a wad of greenbacks in your purse.. Just have to know what you are looking for and to be patient.

Successful Trip to Goodwill

We took an hour and found us some great deals!
The youngest child a 5 year old boy, found some good school clothes, for his rapidly shooting upwards bodyThe 7 year old daughter did too The 10 year old daughter got a jean jacket and a purse.. Backpacks for the three youngest kid. Nice and Sturdy brands!

What is the Greenest Thing You Can Do as Far as Style?

Who says it isn't okay to buy from consignment shops, thrift stores and second hand shoppes? Think of all the material saved, emissions from production saved, land resources saved and chemical output saved and the bonus, you usually save a ton a money and find great stuff. Don't forget you are helping those in need when you spend your $$ at stores like this. They usually fund a homeless shelter, a lunch kitchen for the poor, disabled individuals and so on and so forth. My favorite store is the Deseret Industries (a staple in the West). Sadly we don't have them here in the South, but still plenty of great places to look. As an example I am going out today. My mission to find the youngest three a new outfit for school. Plus I will see what I can find for myself in the process, last time I found a pair of Von Dutch jeans in my size and for five dollars. We are off!

Pacifica Solid Perfumes

I recently found these wonderful solid perfumes at the local botanical gardens.. I opened their testers and couldn't believe how great they smelled and how smooth they went on.. Another great thing about them is the size. They don't take up hardly any room in your handbag and they are less than ten dollars.. I have the
I love both of them and for less than ten bucks worth a try. You can also see the many scents here at PACIFICA

Envirosax-- Must Have for the TreeHugger (like me)

Aren't these just the cutest reusable bags? I thought for the price and the size it is a great deal. To think of putting in the equivalent of two bags of groceries into one bag, is great. Esp. for those of us who have to feed an army. Not only are they functional, but stylish. Heck you could even use these for kids stuff, beach bags, garden bags. You name it!! How fun!
These are $8.50 at Envirosax

The Cocktail Party Goes On!

<

The day the tornado came ripping through the area, we had a cocktail dress auction to attend. What made me fret more?? The stinkin auction, where my hubby and I would hob nob and rub elbows with some of the most influencial citizens of North Georgia. I knew we would be the couple with the least amount of $$$$ in the bank, but I knew that me the guru of deals could dress the part, for little money! I got to the auction and was SHOCKED at the immodesty of the outfits or should I say bedroom wear at this function. Except for the little old ladies with old Southern money, who were dressed in beautiful Chanel suits and reeked of class and dignity. I was actually aproached by one and asked if I lived in the Country Club and that she was happy to see someone who was dressed appropriately. I take that as a complement. I try to be appropriate.

The outfit

Black sequined knee length skirt by INC found brand new with tags at Goodwill for $4.89
Black Basic tee from Downeast Basics for $9.99
White Cotton Shirt on clearance from CATO for $5.99
Black strappy heels for $19.99 at Rack Room Shoes
Total cost for a modest evening cocktail outfit: $40.86 plus tax

Short Sleeve wonder Tee from Downeast Basics in Cinnamon $9.99
